Jason has worked in quantum optics since 1999. He received a BS and MS from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He performed his PhD research with the Quantum Information Science section at Oak Ridge National Lab while attending the University of Tennessee from 2008 to 2017. He stayed with the QIS group as an ORISE Intelligence Community (IC) Post-doc from 2017-19. In 2019, he joined Qubitekk. After spending 3 years in San Diego, he moved with Qubitekk to Chattanooga to help with the build out of the EPB Quantum Network. In the Spring of 2025, he joined Leidos, coming aboard as the Chief Quantum Communications Scientist for the Deep CEMA program, bringing quantum technologies to the Army.
Areas of interest include quantum optics, quantum information science, quantum education and workforce development. Areas of research include single-photon sources, entangled light generation, low light imaging, detectors and nanofabrication.
