Galan Moody is a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of California Santa Barbara. Prior to this, he was a Research Scientist (2015-2019) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, Colorado, and a National Research Council postdoctoral fellow at NIST (2013-2015). He received a PhD in Physics (2013) and a BSc in Engineering Physics (2008) from the University of Colorado Boulder. He is a recipient of a US Air Force Young Investigator Program award (2020), an NSF CAREER award (2021), an ACS Rising Star in Photonics Award (2024), and the UCSB College of Engineering outstanding faculty award (2024). He serves as a thrust co-lead for UCSB’s NSF Quantum Foundry, chairs program committees for several conferences including CLEO, and he is on the editorial board for PRX Quantum and IOP’s Journal of Physics: Photonics.
