Dr. Adam Black is the Director of the Quantum Science Institute at the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. He coordinates in-house quantum research for Navy applications and develops partnerships in quantum science and technology. He additionally heads NRL’s Quantum Optics Section, leading research in quantum sensing, networking, atomic and optical physics. Before coming to NRL in 2016, he developed quantum sensor technologies for nearly a decade in an industry role. He received his PhD in Physics from Stanford University and completed his postdoctoral research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD.
