Presentation Title:
Heterogeneous Integrated Photonics for Quantum Networking
Presentation Abstract:
Integrated photonics is transforming the way quantum information is generated, processed, and distributed, providing a scalable pathway toward practical quantum networking technologies. In this talk, I will introduce the fundamentals of integrated quantum photonics, describe the design, fabrication, and characterization of heterogeneous photonic devices, and highlight recent advances from my group and the broader community on both heterogeneous integration and modular system architectures. Particular emphasis will be placed on nonlinear photonic materials including III-V semiconductors and thin-film lithium niobate, which combine mature fabrication processes, high-quality-factor resonators, heterogeneous integration with ultra-low-loss silicon nitride, efficient quantum emitters, and strong optical nonlinearities for efficient quantum light generation, frequency conversion, and signal processing. Finally, I will outline emerging opportunities and key challenges that will shape the development of integrated quantum photonic systems for quantum networking over the next decade.
