Martie Carpenter is the Deputy Director of Field Office Operations for the Division of Air Pollution Control at the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC). She has been with the Division since 1992. She received a B.S degree in Environmental Health Sciences from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. She oversees the Field Services Program for the Division of Air Pollution Control.
Her team is located around the state in seven environmental field offices. Staff members in these offices are responsible for conducting compliance evaluation inspections on regulated facilities, operating, and maintaining the state’s ambient air monitoring network, and investigating air-related complaints.
