
An optional tour is being organized for the afternoon of Thursday, November 20, starting at the end of the main program.
Tour participants must be registered for the workshop prior to signing up, and the tours have a limited capacity.
Two buses will transport participants from the Marriott to the tour location, and back. Travel and tour stops are anticipated to take approximately 2.5 hours and will return to the Marriott at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Tour Destination:
Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) – A world leader in advanced manufacturing research and development, is driving the adoption of new materials, software, and systems for energy applications. The 110,000 sq ft. facility advances several new manufacturing methods (e.g., direct energy deposition, powder bed fusion, binder jetting), materials (e.g., carbon fiber & composites, ceramics, and novel alloys) and material analysis processes. The tour will highlight many of the current activities and projects at the MDF.
Dress Code:
Long pants and closed toed shoes are required when touring the MDF laboratories, safety glasses will be provided. If wearing a dress, skirt, shorts, or open toed shoes, the attendee(s) will not be allowed to leave the marked aisleways or approach research equipment. Depending on the footwear or clothing, visitors may be asked to sit out of the tour. No food or drink is allowed on the lab floor, please leave these items on the bus or at the front desk.
Deadlines to Sign-Up:
September 22nd for non-US citizen participants and Legal Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders)
October 17th for US citizen participants
