Public transportation is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to get around Washington, DC. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) operates an extensive network of Metrorail and Metrobus services that connect downtown Washington with the surrounding metropolitan area, including all three major airports, hotels, museums, and government facilities.
Metrorail service generally operates from 5:00 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, with extended late-night service on Fridays and Saturdays. Metrobus routes operate throughout the day, with select routes providing overnight service.
A SmarTrip card or mobile SmarTrip is required to ride Metrorail and is also accepted on Metrobus. SmarTrip cards can be purchased at Metro station vending machines or added to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Fares are based on travel distance and time of day.
Complimentary or discounted public transportation passes are not provided as part of the conference registration. Attendees are responsible for purchasing their own transit fare.
