Arriving by Air – Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO)
Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) is the most convenient airport for visitors flying into Charlottesville. It is served by American Airlines, Delta, and United, with nonstop connections to several major hubs.
Boar’s Head Resort is approximately 10–15 minutes by car from CHO. Rental cars, taxis, and rideshare services are available at the airport.
Arriving by Car – Interstate 64
From either I-64 East or West:
- Take Exit 118B toward US-29 North / US-250 Bypass.
- Follow the bypass and take the US-250 West / Ivy Road exit.
- At the traffic light, turn left onto US-250 West (Ivy Road).
- Continue approximately 1 mile.
- Turn left onto Ednam Drive at the traffic light.
- Follow signs for Boar’s Head Resort and guest registration/main lobby.
Arriving via I-81
Take I-81 to Exit 221 in Staunton, then follow I-64 East toward Charlottesville for approximately 40 miles. Take Exit 118B and follow the Interstate 64 directions above.

Sights & Things to Do
University of Virginia – The Lawn & Rotunda
A walk through UVA’s historic Grounds is one of the easiest ways to experience Charlottesville. Thomas Jefferson’s Rotunda, Lawn, and Academical Village are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Monticello. The Memorial to Enslaved Laborers, near the Rotunda, is also well worth visiting.
Monticello
Thomas Jefferson’s mountaintop home is Charlottesville’s best-known historic attraction. Tours explore the house, gardens, architecture, Jefferson’s life and legacy, and the lives of the enslaved people who lived and worked there. Allow roughly half a day if you want to visit without rushing.
Charlottesville Downtown Mall
The historic pedestrian Downtown Mall is an excellent choice for an afternoon or evening stroll, with local shops, galleries, theaters, cafés, bars, and restaurants in and around the surrounding historic buildings.
Virginia Wine Country & the Blue Ridge
Charlottesville is surrounded by vineyards and mountain scenery, with more than 40 wineries along the Monticello Wine Trail. Visitors with additional time can combine a winery visit with a scenic drive toward the Blue Ridge Mountains.
