Mr. Shane McDonald

Shane McDonald currently leads AWS’s Delivery Practice Management team focused on cloud transformation and artificial intelligence solutions for the Intelligence Community, with particular emphasis on scaling GeoAI capabilities and high-performance computing infrastructure for geospatial analytics. In this role, he orchestrates complex cloud migration strategies and implementations that enable real-time processing of massive earth observation datasets. Prior to his current position, Shane served as a Senior Executive at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, where he led enterprise-wide GEOINT operations and strategic initiatives for the Near East region. As Director of NGA’s Aeronautical Safety of Navigation office, he led a workforce of 300 personnel and managed $60M in programs delivering critical navigation products to DoD aviation operations worldwide. His 29-year military career as both a Naval Aviator and Air Force Command Pilot, combined with his executive leadership experience in national security and cloud technologies, provides him with unique insights into the challenges of implementing scalable computing solutions for mission-critical intelligence operations. Shane’s current portfolio includes leading cloud transformation projects that directly address the growing demands of processing and analyzing exponentially increasing volumes of geospatial data through advanced cloud computing architectures and AI/ML solutions.
