Dr. Wolf holds a doctorate in physics and has extensive experience in laser dynamics and applicative photonics; He did his postdoc in Sandia National Lab in light-matter interactions in thin-film heterostructures coupled to metamaterials .
Presentation Title:
All Optical Analog Processor for Energy-Efficient HPC: Benchmarks and Real-World Applications
Presentation Abstract:
Modern HPC computing has become a growing consumer of electrical power. Dramatic reductions in energy consumption without sacrificing performance will require significant rethinking of how we compute. LightSolver is developing an all-optical analog processor that performs common classes of computation, such as linear solves, much faster and using significantly less energy than competing digital platforms, while maintaining precision. We will present our laser-based computing platform, touch on the operating principle, and discuss at length example benchmarks and real-world use cases.
