Dana Grisham is the NNSA lead of the Genesis Mission Data Team. She is a manager within Sandia National Laboratories’ Global Security portfolio. Prior to this role, she was Sandia’s POC for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation R&D’s (DNN R&D) Emergency Response, Warhead Verification and Monitoring, Safeguards, and Data Science objectives and managed a team of AI, data science, and computer science researchers. Prior to that, Ms. Grisham was a program manager for the ground segment of the US Nuclear Detonation Detection System. She has over 10 years of experience implementing data governance and data strategy, including within DNN R&D and Sandia’s Nuclear Deterrence program area. Ms. Grisham has 26 years of software and systems engineering experience spanning roles within Sandia National Laboratories and the State of New Mexico.

The platitudes are endless. Everyone says data is an important, maybe even the most important, aspect of everything we do in National Security. This is amplified when we bring AI into our endeavor. And yet we continue to struggle with our data. Data is and will continue to be our Achilles heel. This presentation will offer ideas on changing our approach to data and governance to the benefit of our national security missions.
