Paulo Tabares is the Rowlinson Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado School of Mines and leads the Advanced Multiscale Building Energy Research (AMBER) Lab. His research portfolio spans heat transfer in building envelopes to community-scale energy monitoring, analysis, and optimization in both urban and rural communities. Dr. Tabares received the 2009 Crosby Field and Willis H. Carrier Awards from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and served as Chair of ASHRAE TC 6.9 (Thermal Storage) Research Subcommittee and TC 4.4 (Building Envelope) Programs Subcommittee. He enjoys talking with people, especially non-engineers, and understanding their daily challenges, which inspire his research group’s agenda and work.
