Jordan Dentz is Research Director at the Systems Building Research Alliance (SBRA), where he has worked since 2002. He is responsible for developing and managing a broad range of research related to factory-built housing (both modular and manufactured) including projects focusing on energy efficiency, manufacturing processes, installations/foundations and moisture issues. Mr. Dentz was instrumental in the development of the ENERGY STAR and DOE Efficient New Home programs for manufactured homes and is currently responsible for technical and quality assurance oversight of SBRA’s role as Quality Assurance Provider for these programs.
Mr. Dentz was senior project manager for the ARIES Collaborative, one of the research teams under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America program, where for more than ten years he developed and supervised building performance related projects for both new and existing residential buildings. He has also been the lead investigator on a dozen technology demonstration projects for NYSERDA, many of which focused on retrofit technologies, including envelope and mechanical systems. Mr. Dentz has extensive experience as a consultant to developers of high-performance single and multi-family residential buildings as a passive house consultant, HERS rater, LEED consultant, and advisor on other programs. He has conducted energy audits, decarbonization/electrification analyses, and providing compliance services for multifamily building operators in New York City. He has authored numerous publications and presented research results at conferences and seminars nationwide. Mr. Dentz is a Certified Passive House Consultant and RESNET certified Home Energy Rater. He has a master’s degree in building technology and a bachelor’s degree in architecture, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
