U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann is a conservative Republican representing Tennessee’s 3rd Congressional District, comprising 10 counties: Anderson, Bradley, Campbell, Hamilton, McMinn, Monroe, Morgan, Polk, Roane and Scott.
He serves on the Appropriations Committee, which is vitally important to residents of the 3rd District. He serves on three subcommittees: Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies; Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies; and Defense. Fleischmann also serves on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and its Energy Subcommittee.
In the 119th Congress, he was named chairman of the Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee. As chairman, he leads efforts to fund the federal agencies and programs responsible for U.S. national laboratories, nuclear security and energy independence.
Fleischmann’s role as chairman of the Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee allows him to advocate for funding for the Chickamauga Lock, a critical East Tennessee infrastructure project. The subcommittee assignment is also of paramount importance to the northern region of the 3rd District, which is home to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Y-12 National Security Complex and a large environmental cleanup mission, all of which rely on funds appropriated by the subcommittee.
