Dr. Ragai Altamimi is a nuclear engineer with expertise in advanced nuclear energy systems, reactor safety, thermal-hydraulics, and space nuclear power technologies. His work focuses on physics-based modeling, system-level analysis, and multi-physics simulation of complex nuclear and energy systems. Before joining Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Altamimi gained extensive international experience in reactor design, licensing, and operation. He contributed to the design, construction, commissioning, and early operation of the Jordan Research and Training Reactor, with emphasis on reactor core design, cooling system performance, and safety analyses. His research has included experimental and analytical investigations of material test reactor fuel behavior and transient thermal-hydraulic response.
