Larry John serves as a distinguished industrial base systems engineer supporting the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program, now WIRE, run by the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Industrial Base Policy. He is the IBAS team’s lead analyst for the castings, forgings, and machine tools sector. John oversees the strategy and operations of America’s Cutting Edge (ACE), a joint Department of Energy and Department of War machining and training initiative at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He also oversees the conduct of related training and national machine tool and metals trades network development by IACMI—The Composites Institute. John is a retired United States Air Force officer who served as a heavy bomber crewmember, flight instructor, and operations planner, and was an operations analyst, weapons expert, and contingency planner.
