Group Leader, Disruptive Manufacturing Systems Development

Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Brian Post

Dr. Brian Post is a senior researcher who leads the Disruptive Manufacturing Systems Development group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He works with researchers at the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility and leads advanced manufacturing technologies and materials for repairing, replacing, and supplementing the domestic production of castings and forgings for use in energy and defense systems. Post has spearheaded big area additive manufacturing (BAAM), where he served as systems lead. This technology has revolutionized the production of large-scale tools and components, enabling faster and more efficient manufacturing processes essential to industries such as energy, aerospace, and defense. BAAM has been commercialized and used to produce the world’s first 3D-printed car, the Strati, and the ORNL 3D-Printed Shelby Cobra.
