Dr. Alaa Elwany has more than 20 years of expertise in advanced manufacturing specializing in manufacturing science and engineering, advanced manufacturing processes, smart and additive manufacturing, and the modeling, analysis, and control of modern manufacturing systems. He is a Chancellor Enhancing Development and Generating Excellence in Scholarship Fellow and previously served as a research scientist at General Motors. Elwany also served as the assistant director for technology at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Office of Advanced Manufacturing and as an American Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the Department of Energy’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office, where he contributed to national manufacturing policy and strategy.
