Dr. Christopher Tyler is a senior research staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory who leads the Advanced Machining and Machine Tool Research group. At ORNL, Tyler’s research centers on enhancing the efficiency, precision, and capability of existing machining systems through advanced process monitoring and optimization. His team is also developing new machining processes and techniques to enable the success and broader adoption of advanced additive and hybrid manufacturing technologies. Prior to joining ORNL, Tyler worked as a research engineer at Boeing Research & Technology, specializing in optimizing machining processes. He served as Boeing’s representative for machining technology within various industry and government consortia.
