Dr. Geoff Brennecka is the Herman F. Coors Distinguished Professor of Ceramic Engineering and Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Missouri–Rolla and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Since joining Mines in 2014, he has led the Functional Ceramics Group and serves as Director of the Colorado Center for Advanced Ceramics (CCAC), focusing on advanced dielectrics, piezoelectrics, and ferroelectrics under applied electric fields. His innovative work earned him an NSF CAREER Award for ferroelectric domain dynamics in 2016 , a Fulbright Scholar Award in 2022 to collaborate in Slovenia, and recognition as an ACerS Global Ambassador and Academician of the World Academy of Ceramics. He is also known for establishing a glass‑blowing lab, building a compelling externally funded research program, and earning Mines’ Dean’s Excellence Award for his exceptional teaching and mentorship.
