Dr. Sumit Paudyal: Dr. Paudyal is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Florida International University (FIU), a position he has held since 2019. He also held the Eminent Chaired Scholar Associate Professor position from 2021 to 2024. Prior to joining FIU, Dr. Paudyal was a faculty member at Michigan Technological University, serving as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor from 2012 to 2018 and as a Tenured Associate Professor from 2018 to 2019. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2012, his MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008, and his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2003. At FIU, Dr. Paudyal leads the Power System Computational Laboratory within the ECE Department. His research group focuses on optimization, modeling, security, and resilience of electric power grids, particularly with high levels of renewable energy integration. Graduates from his lab hold prominent positions in industry, national labs, and academia worldwide.
Dr. Maryam Saeedifard: Dr. Saeedifard received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran, in 1998 and 2002, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2008, all in electrical engineering. From 2007 to 2008, she was with ABB Corporate Research Center, Dattwil-Baden, Switzerland, working in the power electronics systems group. She joined Purdue University in January 2010, where she served as an assistant professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Since January 2014, she has been on the ECE faculty at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her main research focus has been in the area of Power Electronics and Applications of Power Electronics in Power Systems and Transportation Systems. She has served on the technical program committees of the IEEE Power Electronics Society, IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), and IEEE Industrial Electronics Conference (IECON). She is an editor for IEEE Trans. on Sustainable Energy, IEEE Trans. on Power Delivery, and IEEE Trans. on Power Electronics.
Dr. Francisco de Leon: Dr. de Leon received the B.Sc. and the M.Sc. (Hons.) degrees in electrical engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico City, Mexico, in 1983 and 1986, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada, in 1992. He has held several academic positions in Mexico and has worked for the Canadian electric industry. He is now a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New York University. His research interests include the analysis of power phenomena under non-sinusoidal conditions, the transient and steady-state analyses of power systems, the thermal rating of cables and transformers, and the calculation of electromagnetic fields applied to machine design and modeling. Prof. de Leon was the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery for papers submitted from 2020 to 2025.
